KONDWANI CHAPOLA - MALAWI

Kondwani Chapola is a passionate advocate for HIV and human rights, as well as sexual and reproductive health rights for the LGBTQI+ community and male sex workers, based in Malawi. Currently, he serves as a Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant at Community Health Rights Advocacy (CHeRA), where he actively contributes to impact assessment, reporting, and data analysis for the EPIC Project. Additionally, as a member of the LGBTQI+ community with firsthand experience of its challenges, Kondwani works voluntarily as an Outreach Worker, addressing challenges within LGBTQI+ communities and providing crucial support as an HIV Testing Counsellor.

Furthermore, Kondwani voluntarily holds the position of Strategic Communications Officer at Key Population Transitional Collaboration (KP-TNC), a regional African network comprising nine countries, including Malawi. Additionally, Kondwani is a Human Rights Researcher at ReportOUT, where he researches, monitors, and documents the lived experience of sexual and gender minorities globally. At ReportOUT, he educates the public about human rights infringements worldwide and campaigns for social change. Kondwani is dedicated to advancing the rights of the LGBTQI+ community.

Academically, Kondwani earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Pentecost Life University. He also holds certificates in HIV testing and counselling, advanced human rights courses, and specialised training in sexual and reproductive health rights. Furthermore, Kondwani is an alumna of the YALI Southern Africa Regional Leadership Program cohort 19, a member of the Young Global Leaders Network, the Sex Workers Academy Africa, the Africa Youth Philanthropic Cohort, and Citizen Science Life Map Malawi.
