Gertrude Asumadu is an award winning activist and campaigner. She is a graduate in Msc Public Administration (specializing in International and European Governance) from Leiden University and a BSc (Hons) Economics from University of Leeds with experience in international affairs specifically in policy, advocacy and campaigns related to education, poverty, HIV/AIDS, climate change, gender equality among others.

She has worked with multiple charities and organizations within international affairs including the ONE Campaign, Christian Aid, Child.Org, UNICEF, Restless Development, Amnesty International, UNDP Asia to mention a few. She has gained experience in the international development field which has empowered her as a young leader/changemaker to continually make an impact in society.

As an activist, she has worked in different roles and organizations such as ONE UK Youth Ambassador & Community Leader, Their World Global Youth Ambassador, UN Women UK CSW 67 Delegate, Local Pathways Fellow with the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Youth, Review Panelist for United Nations Systems Staff College (UNSSC), One Young World Ambassador, AFS Youth Assembly UK Ambassador, World Bank Youth Summit Delegate, African Changemakers Initiative Fellow, Chatham House’s Common Futures Conversations Member among others.

She has also spoken at high profile events including MUNOX 2022 Draft Resolution Presentation for Global Schools, SDG Student Programme’s Global Issue Forum 2023, Results UK National Conference 2023, IRUKA Changemakers Program 2024 among others.

As a writer, she uses her personal blog, 'Gertrude Says' to express her opinions and thoughts across different societal topics that are of concern to her.

Owing to her impactful work in activism, she has won several reputable awards including: Suffragette Spirit Campaign Honour, Amnesty International (2018), Best in MP Advocacy Award, The ONE Campaign (2022), Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Goalkeeper (2023), UN Women UK Awards (2024) 'Outstanding Grassroots Campaigner' Shortlist, Sponsored Delegate to the Doha Forum:Youth Edition & Doha Forum, Qatar (2024).

She is currently the Co-Founder & Executive Director of the Global Activists Network - a platform that seeks to raise the profile of grassroots activists whilst addressing the challenges they face & providing the needed support available for them.
