Prudence Okeoghene Emudianughe is a multifaceted professional with a passion for strategic communications, fact-checking, and innovative storytelling. As a PhD Candidate in Journalism and Media Studies at the University of Port Harcourt, Prudence explores the intersection of artificial intelligence and journalism. She is also a filmmaker, poet, and writer, advocating for health awareness and empowerment through her work.
Currently, she is a National health fellow representing Ethiope West Local Government, Delta State, and also the Programs Lead for the FactCheckAfrica AI Journalism Fellowship Program, West Africa which is currently training over 40 Journalists on how to ethically integrate AI tools into their journalistic practice.
Prudence has achieved numerous distinctions, including founding the property tech startup Prugems, mentoring 10 girls from Nigeria in the Technovation Girls Global Challenge, and emerging as a finalist in the Alitfest Poetry Grand Slam 2019. She has also secured second runner-up positions in the Poets In Nigeria, Awka Poetry Slam, and Anambra State Spoken Word Poetry Slam 2019, and has published her poetry in Barren Magazine, Agbowo, and Room Magazine.
Additionally, Prudence made her directorial debut with a short film in October 2021, volunteered as IT Support and Journalist for FactCheck Elections in the 2023 general elections, and worked as a Video Editor for the Anambra Broadcasting Service. She was a delegate at the Peking University, China: YenChing Global Symposium 2022, African Center for Strategic Studies and a fellow at the AI and Tech Accountability fellowship.
