When Mobility Becomes Freedom: Advancing the SDGs One Ride at a Time
2 Sept 2026

I never imagined that transportation could determine a woman's future until I watched it happen every day in Egypt. Brilliant women were turning down jobs, missing classes, and limiting their ambitions simply because getting from one place to another felt unsafe or inaccessible.
That realization led me to co-found Dosy, a women-led mobility platform that trains women to ride electric scooters and bicycles while creating income opportunities through women-only transportation services.
Today, thousands of women have gained new mobility skills, many have become riders, trainers, and entrepreneurs, and countless families have benefited from the economic opportunities created.
What began as a transportation solution has become a pathway to confidence, financial independence, and safer cities. This work contributes to SDG 5 by empowering women, SDG 8 by creating decent jobs, SDG 11 by making cities more inclusive, and SDG 13 by promoting cleaner, low-emission transportation. The SDGs are often discussed as global ambitions, but their success depends on local action.
Sustainable development is about giving people the opportunity to move freely, participate fully, and shape their own future.
