The Mirror and I, A Journey from Self-Doubt to Self-Worth
26 Aug 2026

How do you even explain low self-esteem? It is not a sickness with a prescription. It is not a wound that heals with time. It is a shadow that follows you, even when the sun is shining, you still see it. Even when people are clapping, you still hear the whisper, “That wasn’t you. That was luck”
Low self-esteem is standing in front of a mirror and not recognising yourself. It starts at home. Grows in school. Deepens in friendships. Reinforced by society. Small things pile up over time. Like dust settling on a shelf. One day, you look up and can no longer see your own reflection. You know it when you apologise for existing. Shrink before you are seen. Compare yourself to everyone. Doubt your own voice. Cannot accept a compliment. Stay where you have outgrown. But hear me, low self-esteem is not your identity. It is a habit. And habits can be broken. Start with the mirror. Look yourself in the eye and say, “I see you. I will not abandon you. You are enough”.
Stop apologising for existing. Stop comparing your behind-the-scenes to their highlight reel. Speak before the fear catches up. Show up anyway. Surround yourself with people who see you. Celebrate the small wins. The truth is this, you are enough. Not because of achievements or titles. Because you exist. Because you keep trying. Because God does not make mistakes. Low self-esteem steals your voice, dreams, and joy. But it cannot steal your worth. Your worth is waiting for you to claim it. One day at a time. One mirror at a time. One, “I am enough” at a time. If you know this feeling, I see you. Keep going. The world does not need you to be perfect. It needs you to be willing. And you are.
