Dean is a social impact leader and change-maker born and raised in Kawempe, Kampala, Uganda. He has 6 years experience of doing social impact work having co-founded Outcast Activists Forum in 2020, an organisation geared towards inspiring young people to create positive social change in their local communities.
Dean has previously worked with community organisations and youth leaders on a community level in the Parish of Makerere, leaders from all sides of the political divide to find solutions to challenges associated with Peace and Security, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene(WASH), Drug Use and Crime, Teenage pregnancies among others.
He helped young people set up community-based organizations and self-help groups where on numerous occasions these groups got financial assistance to fuel their impact with the help of his grant writing skills.
As a prominent figure in the social impact sector on a community and national level, he is on a mission to mentor and equip young change-makers within the most vulnerable communities with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to effect meaningful change using the Sustainable Development Goals as a launch pad.
Holding certificates from reputable institutions, in various fields, including professional certifications in Social Media Marketing for Nonprofits, Dean is adept at leveraging digital tools and strategies to amplify the voices of marginalized communities and drive social change.
As a member of esteemed organizations such as the Global Youth Coalition for Road Safety, The Young African Leaders Initiative, UNITE 2030, Giving Tuesday Uganda and the Uganda Philanthropy Forum, Dean is deeply committed to collaborating on a global scale to address pressing issues and drive positive impact.
Believing in locally-led development, community-driven systems change, and the decolonization of aid, Dean advocates for a shift in power dynamics to ensure that marginalized voices are heard and respected in decision-making processes.
Over the past 2 years, he has embarked on a journey to ensure that low income communities have access to digital skills and the internet. Thus, he's currently working together with the team at Outcast Activists Forum Uganda (OAF) to set up the first community digital hub. Over the course of his leadership at OAF, his ideas in the form of projects and organization activities have impacted close to 200 families and over 1000 people all living in rural (unserved) and low income (underserved) communities around Uganda.
