Idris Bilyaminu Ndasadu'Lau's impactful work through YAPD4Africa and the Murya Project focuses on community-led development, education, health and social inclusion, contributing to several SDGs. His initiatives have reached over 40,000 lives in more than 100 communities across Nigeria and Africa.
The Murya Project, a civic tech initiative, bridges gaps between citizens' needs and government projects, promoting transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance (SDG 16). By empowering local communities through digital education, advocacy, and civic engagement, Murya ensures government initiatives address real-time needs in sectors like education, health, and water (SDG 6, SDG 3, SDG 4).
The project amplifies citizen voices, helping prioritize essential services based on evidence reports, fostering responsive governance and improving living standards (SDG 10 - Reduced Inequalities). Through community advocacy and monitoring, Murya contributes to sustainable development, strengthens democratic values, and encourages active citizen participation (SDG 11).
Idris was inspired to create Murya by alarming statistics on Nigeria's essential services: 27% of schools lacking infrastructure, 40% of healthcare centers non-functional, and 40% lacking clean water access. Murya bridges these gaps, ensuring citizens are heard and projects respond to community priorities, driving equitable development.
