Mercy Ndubuisi, a five time beauty queen from Nigeria and the founder of the Miriam Ujunwa Girls Foundation (MUGA) and Africa Phenomenon Representative Leaders (APQL). She has dedicated myself to promoting girls’ education, period poverty, and protection from sexual abuse after experiencing a childhood marred by family sexual abuse. Her work focuses on addressing the challenges girls face due to lack of sanitary pads, female genital mutilation, and limited access to education. Through advocacy, community programs, and policy engagement, she has helped increase girls and boys enrollment in schools, influenced policy changes, and keeps raising her voice against child sexual abuse from family members.
She uses her story and that of her friends while in school to educate girls and mothers about menstruation and menstrual hygiene. To combat period poverty, she has distributed sanitary pads to young girls in rural areas who do not have access to sanitary wears.
Mercy has also sponsored 21 boys from both primary and secondary school in celebration of the International Day of the Boy Child 2024. She has been sponsoring the school fees of female secondary students since the year 2022.
She’s a member of the G100, holding the position of country chair under Human Rights and Dignity, she’s a member of Transform Education hosted by UNGEI, Member of Girl Up Nigeria, She’s an Ambassador to YUUKKE India, coordinator of Equal Trade Alliance Women Ambassador, country director for domestic welfare and abuse prevention for World leaders foundation India.
She holds a Masters in Public Administration from Nasarawa State University Keffi and a B.sc degree in Political Science from Godfrey Okoye University.
