Ogechi Cecilia Ofor, founder of the Cecilia Ofor Empowerment Foundation, has made significant strides in advocating for women’s health and empowerment across Nigeria. Her work is centered on critical issues such as Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), period poverty, menstrual health, and gender-based violence.

Under her leadership, her foundation has made a tangible impact in these areas. They have provided free sanitary pads to over 2,000 individuals, addressing the immediate needs of those suffering from period poverty. Additionally, Ogechi has spearheaded an innovative initiative that teaches teenage girls in secondary schools how to produce reusable pads and natural deodorants. This initiative promotes sustainable menstrual health and equips young girls with valuable skills.

Regarding Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) awareness, her foundation has organized workshops and campaigns, reaching over 1,500 individuals at Anambra state University of Nigeria in partnership with department of guidance and counselor, to educate and sensitize and empower the participants on the dangers of FGM.

Her efforts have extended the foundation’s reach to nine states in Nigeria, including Anambra, Ebonyi, Jos, Ogun, Akwa Ibom, Lagos, Abuja, Enugu, and Imo. She established a mentorship WhatsApp group to further support and guide young women, creating a platform for ongoing support and empowerment.

Through these initiatives, Ogechi Cecilia Ofor has demonstrated her unwavering commitment to improving the lives of women and girls across Nigeria, making a lasting impact in the communities she serves.
