Violet Mboya is the founder and team lead of Resourceful Schools, an initiative focused on advancing equitable, quality education through low-cost, locally made learning materials. Her work aligns closely with SDG 4 (Quality Education), particularly in underserved communities where access to adequate teaching and learning resources remains limited.

Through Resourceful Schools, Violet collaborates with teachers to design and create engaging, play-based learning materials using readily available and recycled resources such as carton boxes and plastic containers. These materials support hands-on learning, especially for early grade learners, helping to strengthen foundational numeracy, literacy, and creativity. The initiative has directly reached multiple classrooms, impacting over 300 learners and supporting more than 15 teachers with practical, adaptable teaching strategies.

The problem that was faced by Ms. Mboya during the implementation of the project is lack of resources in poor areas where children study and initial resistance of the teachers to new methods of teaching. In order to overcome it, Ms. Mboya developed a plan that involves training of teachers.

Moreover, Violet is testing out an additional program which involves using VR and 360-degree videos to offer virtual field trips, broadening the learners' exposure beyond their immediate surroundings. This effort seeks to address learning experience gaps and spark curiosity for learners who would not have access to similar experiences otherwise.

This is in line with her vision of offering locally rooted sustainable educational solutions.
