Shiba Nasseri is a young Afghan changemaker whose work bridges climate action, technology, and youth empowerment. With a background in Environmental Engineering and ongoing studies in Computer Science, she combines scientific knowledge with innovative digital solutions to address Afghanistan’s most urgent challenges. Her work aligns with SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
Shiba is also the Co-Founder of TalentForge Academy, an emerging digital learning platform focused on data science, freelancing, and digital career development. Through this academy, she supports young Afghans, especially girls in gaining marketable skills, accessing global job opportunities, and building sustainable digital careers.
Since 2023, Shiba has served as Director General of MGEU, where she has led youth-driven climate advocacy efforts, engaging over 100 young leaders through environmental campaigns, partnerships, and community projects. Her research contributions with the Climate and Environment Coordination Platform (CECOP), including co-authoring a mini-review of Afghanistan’s climate policies, further demonstrate her commitment to evidence-based climate action.
Through her internships with Women Ascension, GOATeck, UNDP’s Frontier Tech Leaders Program, UNITAR, and Aspire Leadership Program, she has designed women’s empowerment initiatives, applied machine learning to climate problems, and contributed to sustainability-focused digital platforms—impacting more than 300 women and youth.
She has represented Afghan youth at international forums including COP29 and multiple global youth conferences. Shiba’s resilience, leadership, and belief in technology-driven social change continue to shape her growing impact.
